Some of the horses we have sold

We got back from the AHANM awards banquet. Alamo got High Point Award in Amatuer Sport Horse for the year (2005) and I got the Ambassador Award for 2005.     Andrew & Danny ......email 1-16-06

We attended the Albq. Sporthorse show, put on by the NMAHA. Alamo was entered in 9 classes: Dressage, Hunter, Cross rails, Low Hunter, Sporthorse in Hand,  Jumps (2'3") and Equitation. We came away with 4 First Places, a Second Place win, 2 Third Place and 2 Fifth Places. All classes had a min. of 6-9 riders. We came away with the most wins of the day by any one horse.
Surprising was the best wins came in the dressage classes. (We hadn't trained in dressage !) The judge asked how long he had been working in dressage, I said ' oh about 2 hours today'. Oh, we've played at it, but never shown in it, hadn't had any formal training save a couple lessons last year, but mostly watched some videos and magazines. The judge felt he was a very good dressage prospect. We got so many compliments on him all day. Also, the jumps were his FIRST, we've played with some at home, but not higher than 15 inches. Here he was jumping 27" and broad jumps to boot! Wow, it was so fun, he didn't balk, just jumped them. He competed against some top riders and horses and beat them out on 2 classes. I was continuely amazed and surprised each time they called out the winners, US!    Alamo, took first in Low Hunter, Dressage Crossrails, Sporthorse Undersaddle Dressage type and Sporthorse In-hand (dressage/hunter). He took 2nd in Equitation, 3rd in Walk Trot Groundrails and Jumps, 5th in Hunter and Sporthorse Undersaddle Hunter type.

What a hoot Sunday was, at one point I thought we were done with our classes save for that last one, when I had put him up for the farrier and was chatting away with some Alamo admirers, I heard my name called out and someone said, "you're in this class,we're waiting on you!" Oh good grief, I raced back to Alamo, got him saddled up and raced down the fairway to the gate, the farrier hadn't got all the nails tacked down even. It was the Sporthorse Undersaddle dressage type class, we took First. Then had to race to unsaddle him, get him in the last class; Sporthorse In-Hand, we took First there too. The judge commented, that he had nails sticking out his walls. I told her I had to snatch him from the farrier before he was done. One dressage rider, said by the end of the day, she was flustered, every time she saw us enter the same class, she said," I just knew I wasn't going to get that blue ribbon!" When asked if we were in the last class, she said,"aww fooey". "Oh no", I told her, "he has never been shown In-Hand before, you'll win". She got happy, said" well then I have a chance". She didn't -- we won it.     Andrew & Danny .....email 11-14-05

emails from new owner - Robin Dunlap

4-9-05 Oh my goodness!  I just saw Devine being lunged and she was drop dead beautiful!!! She can really move and I just had no idea how really gorgeous she is.  Katrin (trainer) said she is a beautiful mover and thinks she would be fabulous in dressage.  Devine is show horse material. I think she’s the prettiest horse I have ever had.  I bought her cuz I liked her disposition and conformation.

4-12-05 Devine continues to amaze me and her trainer.  Katrin keeps saying how well adjusted she is and how accommodating.  So far in five days she has been moved to three different stalls and she’s fine. All the horses like her and things like cows and trains and ATV’s don’t seem to be a problem!  She is enjoying her work now.  Katrin says she loves praise and having a job.  She is really trying to please.  I love her to bits.

4-14-05 In less than a week, Devine has learned many things with grace.  Katrin had thought it would take that long for her just to adjust to her new surroundings, but she’s having a ball.  She keeps saying “She’s very well adjusted, you know.”  Katrin said it would be a crime not to show her!  This mare is incredible. Thank you for picking her out for me.

Devine has been doing so well in her training,
that she got to go to the carnival!

email from Leigh after purchase
"She did EXTREMELY well, and handled everything we did quietly and calmly. She is going to be a joy to train. I'm curious, what sort of handling did she have before we got her? No matter what we tried, nothing upset or startled her and she was extremely cooperative. We got farther with her in 30 minutes than with some horses in a week. So, I'm really interested in what you did with her and how you did it."

8-23-04 email update from Leigh
Lordy, that mare is awesome! We had a wonderful ride and had fun, fun FUN!!!! She didn't spook at the big tractor monster roaring in the next pasture and she kept going despite the awful heat and humidity. She was full of energy but never once failed to immediately obey my commands. Her floaty trot is a dream to ride and her canter is powerful and smooth.   Beth suggested showing her in "most classic head" at the Fiesta show next spring. Might be fun and I would enjoy showing her off. If ever you have a potential customer who wants to see one of your Arabs under saddle, bring 'em over! Just warn 'em I am going to bore them to death with stories of how wonderful she is. *grin*

"Just wanted to tell you the latest on my angel.  He is honestly the sweetest horse I have ever been around.  One of the other boarders said he is probably the smartest horse there.  What do you think about that?  I'm such a proud Mother.  When the ground is too wet, Karen keeps them corraled for the day.  They were all up the other day, so I took him out for a walk just up and down the driveway.  I've been trying so hard to get a good picture of him with his head up, because he looks so regal.  It's pretty much impossible.  When we go for walks, he keeps his head lowered level with my head, and pretty much keeps it lowered whenever he's around me.  After just a few hrs of ground training, I was amazed.  If I just move my finger back and forth, he will back up.  Can you believe it's been almost 2 yrs since I bought him?  I couldn't be happier! I truly can't imagine my life without him now.  And, of course, he looks stunning!  I'm still doing lessons with Steph, so all is well!  OK, I'll stop boring you; I'm just so proud and couldn't be more happy with the horse I chose!"
